Litigation Attorney: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
We are seeking attorneys with experience in personal injury, insurance defense or related civil litigation matters. We are open to candidates at different stages of their careers, from attorneys looking to build meaningful litigation experience to seasoned lawyers capable of independently managing complex cases.
What matters most is your ability to think critically, communicate clearly, write well and advocate effectively.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on litigation role with real responsibility.
You will work directly with experienced trial attorneys, communicate with clients, develop case strategy and take an active role in moving matters from initial evaluation through resolution or trial.
Attorneys earlier in their careers will have the opportunity to gain meaningful experience with depositions, hearings, mediations and courtroom practice.
Experienced attorneys will have the independence to manage cases, work directly with clients and take a leading role in litigation strategy.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Develop case strategy with partners and senior attorneys
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses and other legal documents
- Take and defend depositions
- Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings
- Conduct legal research and prepare case evaluations
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts and other parties
- Evaluate liability, damages and potential exposure
- Prepare cases for settlement, mediation and trial
- Assume additional litigation responsibilities based on experience
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar
- Experience or demonstrated interest in civil litigation
- Experience in personal injury, insurance defense, premises liability, automobile negligence, wrongful death, general liability or related litigation is preferred
- Strong legal writing, research and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong judgment and attention to detail
- Desire to take ownership of cases and continue developing as a litigator
Plaintiff-Side Experience Is Welcome
Attorneys coming from a plaintiff-side personal injury background are encouraged to apply.
Experience evaluating liability and damages, taking depositions, working with experts, negotiating cases and preparing matters for trial can translate extremely well into insurance defense litigation.
